Support for a Capable, Connected, and Healthy Life

RFK Community Alliance believes every person carries a spark of possibility.

We offer personalized, high-quality care to children, youth, adults, and families as they work through serious challenges. Our work is done with compassion and grounded in the belief that every individual deserves to feel connected, capable, and healthy.

We foster environments where every person – those we serve and those we work alongside – can show up as their full and authentic self. We honor the diverse identities, voices, and lived experiences within our community.

Advancing Well-Being for All Ages

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to promote meaningful and sustained well-being for children, youth, and adults facing educational, developmental, mental health, and other challenges.

People are at the heart of everything we do. From the youngest to the oldest, we help individuals discover their strengths, foster well-being, and create meaningful lives.

Our commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity fuels our work, shaping how we support our team, engage in our programs, and drive lasting change.

Letter to Nicole (CBH)

Dear Nicole,

To begin, I want to thank you for all the time and effort you have put into helping me through the challenges of my life. I know that at times I have not been the easiest client to work with, and you have always been so patient and kind with me. Our therapeutic relationship has been very
meaningful to me, so I wanted to write this letter before our final session.

When I started seeing you after K retired, I was an up and coming college freshman who had just worked through serious trauma. I had toxic relationships with a partner and friends that were not in my best interest. And at that time in my life, I do not think I had a true concept of who I was. I knew I felt different than other people in a way I couldn't describe. As great as K was, she was guessing it was a plethora of other potential disorders that were focused on weaknesses, not strengths. I felt like a blank slate, someone who didn't have a grasp on what it meant to be me.

My work with you dramatically changed that. You were the person who pushed me to get my autism diagnosis and learn to see the strengths rather than the weaknesses of my neurodivergence. You were the person who taught me to recognize my good traits and values in ways I had not considered. You started reframing my negative thoughts and eventually, your voice became my own voice reframing in my head. And above all, you are the person who helped me find who 1 am underneath all of my pain and trauma. You helped me bring my true self into the light and I am incredibly grateful for that.

Although my needs have shifted and we have to part ways for now, I know that the skills, lessons, and experiences I have had through my work with you will continue with me for the rest of my life. I know everyone has days when they feel like they aren't making a difference. If you ever have one of those days, I hope you think of your work with me and know that you have changed my life for the better.

Our relationship has always been professional, and at the same time you have had a big presence in my life for almost three years. I am going to miss our conversations. I will miss saying "what a pickle" while laughing about some silly dark joke we (probably I) made. I will miss you, Nicole, and I wish for nothing but the best and that you get everything you want out of your life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything.

With profound gratitude,
A
